Digital Farmer ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Digital Farmer mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use the app:
- Phone Number: Required for OTP-based login and account creation.
- Profile Information: Name, email (optional), profile photo, address, district, state, and pincode — provided voluntarily during profile setup.
- Farm Data: Farm names, field details, crop cycles, expenses, and harvest records that you enter.
- Location Data: GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) when you grant location permission, used for weather forecasts, nearby marketplace items, and mandi prices.
- Device Information: Device token for push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- User Content: Posts, comments, images, and videos you upload to the community or marketplace.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your identity via phone OTP verification.
- To provide personalized weather forecasts and farming advisories for your location.
- To show nearby marketplace products and mandi prices in your state.
- To display your profile to other farmers in the community.
- To send push notifications about tasks, messages, and community activity.
- To generate farm reports (expenses, income, profit) for your own use.
- To improve the app and fix bugs.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We may share limited data with:
- 2factor.in: Your phone number is sent to 2factor.in to deliver SMS OTP for login verification.
- Firebase (Google): Device tokens are used for push notifications. Phone number may be used for Firebase Phone Auth.
- Open-Meteo: Your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is sent to fetch weather data. No personal identity is shared.
- data.gov.in: State and commodity information is sent to fetch mandi prices. No personal data is shared.
4. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored securely on our servers with encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- API access is protected with token-based authentication.
- Session data is encrypted.
- We implement rate limiting to prevent abuse.
5. Your Rights
- Access: You can view all your data through the app (profile, farms, posts).
- Update: You can edit your profile, farm data, and posts at any time.
- Delete: You can delete your account from Profile settings. This permanently removes all your data including farms, posts, and messages.
- Withdraw Consent: You can revoke location permission through your device settings at any time.
6. Children's Privacy
Digital Farmer is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
